RICE BAGS FOR EXPORT TO MAURITIUS REPLACED WITH SAND, TRUCK DRIVER HELD

Ghaziabad Police have arrested two people working at Loni Container Depot for replacing 120 bags of rice with sand. The consignment of rice was to be sent to Mauritius but the crooks replaced it with sand and then sold the rice in open market.

The matter came to the light when Nitin, a Delhi- based exporter, lodged a complaint with the Loni police station about the incident.

Nitin said he received a complaint from Mauritius that the consignment sent by him contained sand instead of rice.

A case of fraud and criminal breach of trust was registered and investigation was taken up.

Police said investigation revealed that the consignment of 120 bags of rice sent to Mauritius was replaced with sand. It was found that the driver of the truck who transported the rice bags to the Loni container depot replaced rice bags with sand bags during transporting the consignment.

“We have arrested the driver Feroze who confessed to the crime. His accomplice has also been arrested who has revealed his identity as Niyaz a resident of Loni,” said OP Chaudhary the Inspector of Loni police station.

Efforts are being made to recover the rice bags. Police teams are working on leads, Chaudhary said.
